Far away from Narnia, in the evil country of Calormen, a boy named Shasta is very lonely and unhappy. "I wish you could talk" the boy says to the horse. "But I can," the horse answers. At first Shasta thinks he dreaming. Then the horse speaks again. "Why not run away with me?" he asks. Soon the horse and his boy are ready to escape Narnia.
